🔥🧄 Charred Beef Heart Skewers with Garlic-Lime Oil

Bold, smoky, and unexpectedly tender — this turns beef heart into a juicy, steak-like experience with a bright finish.

Equipment

  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Skewers (wooden or metal)
  • Grill pan / braai / frying pan
  • Mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 500 – 700 grams beef heart, cleaned and cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • .5 tsp ground coriander
  • Salt & black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove, finely grated
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Pinch of chili flakes

Instructions

  • Prep the Heart

    Trim off any tough membranes and fat. Cut into even cubes and pat dry.
  • Season

    Toss beef heart with olive oil, cumin, paprika, coriander, salt, and pepper.
  • Skewer

    Thread pieces onto skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.
  • High-Heat Cook

    Grill or sear on high heat for 2–3 minutes per side.Keep it slightly pink inside for tenderness.
  • Finish

    Mix garlic, lime juice, chili flakes, and olive oil.Drizzle over the hot skewers just before serving.
