Coffee-Rubbed Oven Brisket (Rich, Smoky & Tender)

Equipment

  • Baking tray or roasting dish
  • Aluminium foil
  • Mixing bowl
  • Sharp knife
  • Basting spoon
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 1–1.5 kg beef brisket
  • 2 tbsp ground coffee
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 250 ml beef stock
  • Salt & black pepper

Instructions

  • Prep the brisket – Pat dry and rub with olive oil.
  • Make the rub – Combine coffee, sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Season – Coat brisket generously with the rub and drizzle Worcestershire sauce over the top.
  • Bake low & slow – Place in roasting dish, pour in beef stock, cover tightly with foil, and bake at 150°C for 3–4 hours.
  • Finish – Uncover for the last 30 minutes to form a dark crust. Rest for 15 minutes before slicing.
