Equipment
- 1 Large skillet or wok
- 1 Wooden spoon or spatula
- 1 Grater or mini-chopper for garlic and ginger (optional)

Ingredients
- 450 grams ground beef (any lean ratio)
- 2 tbsp oil (vegetable or neutral)
- 4 cloves garlic, finely grated or chopped
- 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger (or 1 tsp ground)
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp sweetener (brown sugar, honey, or agave syrup)
- Fresh green onions or veggies for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Prep aromatics:Grate or mince garlic and ginger; set aside.
- Heat skillet:Place pan over high heat, add oil until shimmering.
- Sauté garlic & ginger:Add to the pan and stir continuously for ~30 seconds until fragrant.
- Cook beef:Add ground beef, break it up, and brown fully (~3 min). Let sit undisturbed briefly to get a bit of crispiness.
- Add sauce:Pour in soy sauce and sweetener. Stir and cook until the meat is glossy, saucy, and nicely colored (~1 min)
- Serve:Spoon over steamed rice, garnish with chopped green onions or simple veggies. Ready in under 10 minutes!
Notes
- Use lean or regular ground beef based on preference; add a splash of water or broth if dry.
- Swap sweetener with honey or brown sugar to vary taste.
- Add frozen peas or sliced peppers when cooking beef to bulk it up.
- For extra heat, toss in a pinch of chili flakes.
