Equipment
- Frying pan or skillet
- Wooden spoon or spatula
- Sharp knife
- chopping board
- measuring spoons
Ingredients
- 500 grams chicken livers, cleaned and trimmed
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp paprika (optional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prep the livers – Rinse, trim off excess fat, and pat dry with paper towels.
- Cook the onions – Heat olive oil/butter in a pan over medium heat. Add sliced onions and sauté until golden and soft (about 8–10 minutes). Remove and set aside.
- Sear the livers – In the same pan, add the chicken livers. Cook on medium-high heat for 2–3 minutes per side until browned on the outside but still slightly pink inside (do not overcook, or they’ll turn tough).
- Add flavor – Add garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well for 1–2 minutes.
- Combine – Return the onions to the pan and mix everything together for a final 1–2 minutes.
- Serve – Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy with crusty bread, rice, or pap.
